I began my nursing career as a staff nurse and journeyed through several areas of nursing practice until I realized my true passion and calling was teaching and psychiatric-mental health. Since 2011, I have served as a professor of nursing and public health, teaching undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in psychiatric-mental health nursing, community health nursing, and public health. While teaching, I maintained my practice as a psychiatric-mental health nurse by working with children, adolescents, and adults in residential treatment centers, hospital inpatient units, emergency departments, homeless shelters, and crisis centers.

As a mom to two neurodivergent children, I have over a decade of experience raising complex kids in a world that was not built for their uniquely-wired brains. I understand the complexities of mental health and parenting special kids and I am here to support you and your family on this journey.
